Welcome to Kereru Cabin at 32A Waiheke Road!
A peaceful retreat nestled in the native bush of Onetangi, Waiheke Island. Just a short walk from the beach and surrounded by birdsong (including a resident kereru who regularly visits the trees outside), this modern two-bedroom cabin is ideal for a quiet winter escape or a laid-back family break.

The cabin offers two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the second with king single bunk beds, an open-plan living space, and everything you need to settle in, full kitchen, fast Wi-Fi, and a deck to soak up the bush views and birdsong.

If you need anything during your stay, or just want local tips, I’m only a call or message away.

Getting to Kereru Cabin

  • Fullers and Island Direct operate foot ferry services between Auckland and Waiheke Island, arriving at Matiatia Ferry Terminal. Island Direct is a new, locally-run service that often offers promotional deals during holiday periods, keep an eye out for discounts!

  • Taxis are available from both ferry terminals. From Kennedy Point, please book a taxi in advance. We recommend confirming a fare before starting the trip, as fares can vary.

    I recommend pre booking your transport needs with Kat from Ride Waiheke. Call her on 02108813039. She offers a fixed $40 from the ferry to the property.

  • If you’re bringing a car, take the Sealink ferry to Kennedy Point. Once on Waiheke Island, use Google Maps to navigate to 32A Waiheke Road, Onetangi. The driveway will be on your right hand side. Go down the driveway and and the cabin will be directly in front of you, with a double parking bay to your left.

  • From Matiatia Ferry Terminal, take the 50A or 50B bus toward Onetangi. Get off at the stop for Waiheke Road/Third Ave.

    From there, walk uphill along Waiheke Road for about 2–3 minutes. The entrance to 32A is on your right.

    Note: The driveway is steep, and access to the cabin involves a set of stairs, so pack light if possible and wear comfortable shoes.

House Rules

No Smoking

Please refrain from smoking or vaping inside the cottage. You’re welcome to smoke in the garden area.

Noise

Out of respect for our neighbors, please keep noise to a minimum after 11 PM.

Rubbish

Help us keep Waiheke beautiful! Use the blue council bin outside for recycling and place any landfill bags into the red topped bin


Please No Parties

Our cottage is a relaxing retreat. Parties or events aren’t permitted without prior consent.


Sorry, No Pets

Unfortunately, Kereru Cabin isn’t suitable for pets. If you would like to bring a pet, please contact Daragh, and he can arrange to move you to another property.

 FAQs

  • There are extra blankets in the bedroom wardrobe.

  • There is a coffee pod machine in the kitchen, along with a selection of coffees next to it. If you run out please let me know and we can drop more off.

  • There are additional plug-in heaters in the bedrooms.

  • There is a full kitchen including coffee maker with coffee.

    The kitchen is stocked with all cooking and cleaning products. If you run out of anything during your stay please let me know.

  • Please feel welcome to park in the two parking spaces at the base of the stairs up to 32A.

  • If the inside bins fill up during your stay please place recycling into the Blue Recycling bin out back and the landfill red bin.

  • The wifi code is on the fridge

  • The water comes from a tank at the rear of the property. The water is triple filtered, including a UV filter.

    If you run out of water during your stay please let me know and I will book the tank to be filled. Please note the water trucks turn up pretty quick and will need access down the drive to the tank.

Onetangi Beach

At two kilometers long, Onetangi is a fabulous walking beach as well as offering great swimming at all tides and another must to visit. Barbeque facilities and limited shade. Body surfing possible when conditions allow.

Palm Beach

Facing sunny north with clear water and white sand Palm Beach offers great swimming at all tides and is a must to visit. Large grass areas, large children’s playground and two barbeque areas. Body surfing possible when conditions allow. Limited shade. Beach store and cafe.

Oneroa Beach

Facing sunny north with clear water and white sand, Oneroa beach offers great swimming at all tides, large grass areas with barbeque facilities and swings. Body surfing possible when conditions allow. Within easy walking distance to the village. There is also a driveway onto the beach for boat access down the far Western end, accessible from Korora Road.

Whakanewha

Woodsy recreation area by a beach on Rocky Bay, with multi-use trails, campsites & picnic spots. Set in a protected bird sanctuary this beach is a great place for birdwatchers. You can spot kererū, tūī, pīwakawaka (fantail) and tūturiwhatu (New Zealand dotterel) in the wetlands and along the coast, while kayakers can explore nearby inlets and bays.

Checking Out

We want you to leave relaxed, so leave the cleanup to us! No major checklist required, after you check out, our cleaners will take care of everything, from tidying up to resetting and refreshing the space for the next guests. Just follow a few simple steps, and we’ll handle the rest!

Heaters Please make sure these are turned off, and for the portable ones, unplugged.Don’t forget the electric blankets.

Lights Please turn off the lights.

Locks Please make sure the back door is locked and the windows closed.
